History of Lazy River Landing Vacation Home
This property, that is now Lazy River Landing has always been a special place. During the 1940's tourism took off in the area surrounding the Wisconsin River and Lake Wisconsin. Visitors began arriving by zig zagging through the countryside on Hwy 51, CS and V. Tourists enjoyed the natural beauty and abundant wildlife that remains here today. Eagles, Sandhill Cranes, Pilliated Woodpeckers , Owls, Kingfishers, Wild Turkeys, Deer and Cayote are among the creatures you may enjoy seeing. The sandy Wisconsin riverbed lured visitors to relax on the secluded small beaches and fish or picnic.
Five cabins were established in the 1950's and became Blackhawk resort. Lazy River Landing was once one of these cabins. Three of the original Blackhawk resort buildings remain today, although greatly changed in appearance and upgrades. Each of these buildings were sold to individual buyers as single family homes. Blackhawk resort continued through the early 1960's, enjoying a boom of activity after the interstate was built in 1961. Canoes and Rowboats were the prefered form of water transportation at that time. Fishing, hunting, sightseeing and relaxation were enjoyable pastimes.
The property has been renovated several times to keep up with modern amenities. This home has been a single family home as well as a rental throughout the years. Ann and Mike Hirz purchased the home in 2000 as a weekend getaway. Only missing two weekends in three years made the decision to stay in the area a simple one. After buiding a home of their own design, friends and family begged the Hirz not to sell the cottage. Lazy River Landing was established in 2004 in order to share the beauty of this special place with others. The Hirz family welcomes you to experience memory making good times of your own here, in your private vacation getaway - Lazy River Landing.
